Prior to FDA Ltd’s involvement there was strong local opposition to this project after a number of trees were removed following the purchase of the land. The Council rightly served a Tree Preservation Order to protect the remaining trees, which potentially led to considerable constraints on the number of plots available for development.
FDA Ltd were brought in to review the TPO and commissioned to act as the pivotal link between the clients planning/design team and the Council’s tree officer; negotiating a successful outcome which resulted in extra residential plots and ultimate returns on investment.
A sustainable tree protection and landscaping scheme was negotiated and agreed under condition, which ensured the retention of the high quality trees; increased the socio-economic value of the site; and provided a high quality contemporary residential development.
